Recipe: Teriyaki Beef Protein Bowl
Main Ingredient: 500g Lean beef steak
Additional Ingredients:
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 whole eggs (for topping)
Cooking instructions:
- Begin by cutting the lean beef steak into thin, manageable strips.
- In a hot pan, add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and sear the beef strips until they are browned but not fully cooked.
- Remove the beef from the pan and set aside. To the same pan, add garlic and ginger, sautéing briefly until fragrant.
- Next, add in the vegetables (broccoli, bell peppers, and carrots) with the remaining sesame oil. Stir fry until they begin to soften.
- Return the beef to the pan, add in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and chili flakes (if using). Let everything simmer together until the beef is thoroughly cooked and the sauce has thickened.
- As the beef cooks, fry up two eggs in a separate non-stick skillet, aiming for a runny yolk.
- Last, sprinkle the cooked dish with sesame seeds for garnish.

Plating:
Place a healthy portion of the beef and vegetable mix in the center of a round, wide-rimmed plate. Ensure the vibrant colors of the vegetables are visible. Gently lay the fried egg on top of the beef, with yolk still runny. Sprinkle the meal with an extra touch of sesame seeds. The finished plate should be a balance of hearty proteins and bright, fresh vegetables, crowned with a glowing sunny-side up egg.
